I started off the new year with a trip to LA (for Esao's show at Thinkspace Gallery / a much needed vacation from NYC) We were lucky to be able to stay at the amazing James Jean's house where we were able to visualize what it would be to live the good life by the beach.

Will 2012 be the year of the big move to the west coast???

Life Aquatic

I've been trying to take work outside with me as much as I possibly can to enjoy the beautiful weather. New York in the summertime is the best! Living near the East River makes it really easy to take advantage of all the parks, piers, ferries, etc. that make for mini "vacations" from work (although my version of "work" should also be in quotations haha!)

Here are some images from the past week or two- shark jaws that I found at the beach in Ft. Tilden, boats at the South Street Seaport where Esao did a sketch of me reading the new NYLON, a sneak peak from a photoshoot last weekend by a creek in NJ, a wholesale order sent to Summer Studio in Avalon, NJ, and an Aqua Bandeau Set that can be purchased here.

A Little Inspiration

Here we have some images of what has been referred to as my "Tumblr on my wall" haha. I'm a very tactile person- I need to be able to hold the images and see them displayed together to make sense of the whole.

The third image is part of my textile design process- I love drawing by hand, but this image has been scanned, color corrected, and tiled into a repeat in photoshop. The finished pieces are near to completion, so there will be more photos later.

The last image is part of the inspiration behind my new collection to be presented this summer at The Lingerie Journal Designer Showcase. One of the strangest plants of the desert, the Night-blooming Cereus is a member of the Cactus Family that resembles nothing more than a dead bush most of the year. It is rarely seen in the wild because of its inconspicuousness. But for one midsummer's night each year, its exquisitely scented flower opens as night falls, then closes forever with the first rays of the morning sun.

Highlights from AZ

I was away in AZ this month where I discovered what life is like in the desert- cactus, caves, quails, snakes, scorpions, hiking in platforms, donkeys hee-hawing in the middle of the night, hoarders, confederate flags/insane clown posse banners, gun stores, more stars than I knew existed, amazing mexican food, and of course, the best thrift shopping ever! Here are a few highlights...

Just splurged and bought myself some awesome new bras, and for some reason they are all blue! I get carried away with color sometimes! This is the Lure or Be Lured Bra by Elle Macpherson Intimates. I just purchased it from Lille Boutique. I love the straps!

This is another by Elle Macpherson- she makes the best basics! I purchased this "Hula Hoops" set for a friend's lingerie shower and went back to Journelle and bought it for myself!

And last but not least, the best bra in the entire world! I want it in every color! Everyone always raves about the Timpa Duet bra, so I had to try it. I honestly never want to take it off. I also bought this one at Journelle.

And now, back to sewing thousands of Valentine's orders!

I'm sitting here on a Saturday night wearing one of my new bodysuits, drinking wine and listening to French music and feeling very inspired!

I've been daydreaming about creating my own textiles- something I always wanted to do from day one! I'm thinking about the bigger picture, and although I love collecting and using vintage prints (which I will continue to do as one-off's) the prints are sometimes limiting. I can't take bigger wholesale orders with them because the fabric is limited, sometimes I find the repeats to be too far apart or too big for the small pieces that I work with, and sometimes the fabric quality is not up to my ideal standard.

I've been looking at Miu Miu prints all day- I love the way they clash so well! I also ate a macaroon today from Cookie Road in Greenpoint, and it was such a beautiful color! I may be dying some coral fabric in the near future...also so obsessed with anything sheer right now...

Off to Arizona

My lingerie will be part of the Smart Living Pavilion, specifically as part of the "EcoSex" vignette, hosted by Stefanie Weiss, author of Eco-Sex: Go Green Between the Sheets and Make Your Love Life Sustainable. Other showcasing brands include JimmyJane, Maxim feminine care, and Sir Richards condoms.

If anyone knows how much I love rabbits (I have a pet rabbit) you will understand that, although they are tacky, I need them in my life! I'm loving this rainy fall weather...all I want to do is go pumpkin picking and go on a haunted hayride! Halloween always sneaks up on me and I pretty much end up being a zombie every year (although I make a pretty good zombie,) but this year I'm going to plan out and make an awesome costume. I'm thinking along the lines of vampire bat?? Here is a picture of a bat cape that I made last year for my boyfriend's dog- it's velvet with floral lining and stitched with boning to hold the shape.

And here are some inspirational photos from last year's Harper’s Bazaar UK November ’09. The spread is titled "Mystery in the Moonlight" shot by Michaelangelo di Battista. It's like a nerdy horror dream come true!

Hello everyone! I'm so happy to announce that there are a bunch of new things in my store! All of the images were taken by the talented Josh Marx when I was in Nashville for the Naked Without Us event. We had such an amazing time in Nashville- met the friendliest people in the world, ate awesome food, went to some awesome bars, did some vintage shopping, got stuck in a monsoon, and chased tornadoes all the way back to Brooklyn. My Favorite Things Aren't Things....

I remember reading that on a cross stitched plaque hanging on someone's wall somewhere and it made me want to cry a little haha! But there were too many good things that happened this past year that I can't possibly list them all! Although going to Spain and drinking beer in my underwear on a balcony was pretty awesome, but I can't show a picture of that....So I guess it is easier to show some of my favorite things that I acquired this year that are actual things. Here are my best thrift store finds of 2009:

I LOVE this cover of German Elle! These are my favorite colors- I just hope that I don't use them so much that I get sick of them...I don't think I'll ever dislike pastel and black together. It reminds me of a light purple eyelet dress that my sister had when I was in 7th grade. I used to borrow it and wear it with black tights and try to be like her! She had a magazine (Sassy or something like that) and there was a spread of a bunch of girls wearing pastel dresses and black tights. I wish I still had it!

I love Ellen Von Unwerth's photography. I almost bought a book of hers called "Revenge" when I was in LA and I wish I had. Her work is very creepy, pretty, and empowering. I feel like I want to start making masks too!

New Blog + New Designs!

I finally started a blog! I've been meaning to do this for awhile, but it's so hard to keep up with when I'm constantly working on a thousand things- one of those things being a whole new set of organic bamboo cotton separates. This fabric is so slinky, stretchy, and soft- I want to drown myself in it!

The pictures should be finished soon, but in the meantime here are a few cheap cell phone shots that I took behind the scenes while drinking lots of bloody marys...
